Why This Matters for Friends
The world is filled with challenges and uncertainties that can pull us into cycles of stress and fear. But none of us are meant to face these challenges alone. Friends can play a powerful role in helping one another discern between healthy concerns (things we can address together) and unproductive worries and stresses (things we can release to God).
For over 25 years, Rev. Jermine D. Alberty has served as a pastor, author, national trainer, and consultant who serves as Principal Consultant and founder of the S.A.L.T., is also one of the founders and a national trainer for the Mental Health First Aid initiative, and has seen how anxiety and depression—often rooted in trauma—can isolate people. Research reminds us just how widespread this is:
- 31.9% of teens struggle with anxiety disorders, with symptoms like panic or excessive worry.
- 1 in 5 teens will face a major depressive episode by the age of 17.
No friend can “fix” everything, but we can show up, listen, and walk with each other. This session equips you and your friends with tools to discern, act, and release together so no one must carry their burdens alone.
